If it’s ENG or other quick turn-arounds that represent your goals then the compact Panasonic HPX171E on P2 cards is a perfect choice.

For different looks the Sony PMW-EX3, with interchangeable lenses, is real state-of-the-art. And it’s the first semi-shoulder camcorder to carry the CineAlta 24P with multiple frame-rate recording capability. To maximise recording time, the PMW-EX3 has two memory card slots which means, with a pair of 16 GB SxS PRO memory cards, it can record up to 140 minutes of HD footage.

Or you can converge your still and movie acquisition by getting a Canon 5D Mark II (1080p30) or Nikon D5000 (vari-angle LCD monitor). Shoot stills in RAW and/or movie clips in H.264 or MJPEG, with shallow depth-of-field, to get that professional ‘movie-look’.
